Hong Kong before handover part 1, Martin and Mia Asia 1997

Now we are headed for Hong Kong. But first,

The last breakfast at the Palm Garden in Sanur, Bali. We went for Indonesian breakfast this day, here you see Mia eating a Bakmi Goreng. Delicious!

This is the worlds longest suspension bridge, connecting the Kowloon side of Hong Kong with the Lantau island. It is built for the new airport which is soon to open (July 1997).

When landing at the Kai Tak airport, the old one, you almost touch the taller of the skyscrapers of Kowloon. It is an impressive sight, especially for the pilots landing here who have to make 2 quick turns in order to not hit them. Supposed to be one of the worlds most difficult airports to land upon.

Yee Kew restaurant, Wellington road, Hong Kong

First night Roger and Judy took us out to a restaurant which had been elected the worlds best restaurant by prestigious organizations such as the American Express company, Diners club, Fortune magazine and the HKTA organization.

Mia having the appetizer, a 5000 year old ducks egg. But Roger assured her; it is not 5000 years old, only around 1000.

Do I really have to eat it ? Using chop sticks ?

OK, she made it after a while.

All of us, eating together.

Roger and Judy.

Now we are headed for some serious barhopping.

Headed for the milk bar.

All of us on our way...

Martin having the famous drink the "Blue flaming Lambourghini". This is a drink based on Galliano, Kahlua, Sambuca, blue Curaco and Baileys. Served and to be drunk burning. This is a serious shot!

Judy laughing when I was drinking it. Guess who ordered the drink for me...

Mia having a dancing cow, consisting of vodka, Kahlua, banana liqueur, Chocolate ice-cream and milk. The only touch of milk you can get at this milk bar!

After the burning Lambourghini we deserved a serious beer. But OK, Corona is hardly a real beer...

Roger having his Corona.

Time for next place. Shall we go to Hardys, which Martin and Roger has been trying to purchase ? We got an offer 2 years ago to buy this establishment in Lan Kwai Fong at 2.7 M HKD. But we decided to wait.

OK, we decided to go for the German pub. Mia was in the mood for Apfelkorn.

Judy and Roger making up plans for new drinks for us...
